in 2001 acura integra's stopped being produced...why?

Because they replaced it with the Acura RSX.They stopped making the RSX because Acura wanted to go for more of the luxury buyer market than the sports car market and was not making enough money with the RSX even though both the Teg and the RSX were nice vehicles.Now if only they would come out with an RSX with RWD or AWD, then they could really compete with the other foreign sports car competition.

They didn't stop being made. Acura stopped making them.A car can't stop making itself.

the dc5 took its place. same chassis, but different name.

Integ got replaced with the RSX...which is also a great car. The RSX was discontinued in '06 and replaced with both the TSX and the Civic SI. Acura wanted a more 'luxurious' reputation, and the RSX simply didnt make the cut. However the TSX is very much like the RSX in looks and performance. It was meant for those who liked the RSX but wanted a little more luxury. For those who liked the RSX but wanted a little more sport and performance, the Civic SI became the new choice.

The Integra has been replaced by the CSX, another compact.

In Japan the Integra countinued, using the Integra name its the RSX in America.

because it was replaced by the RSX. Acura will replace models with new ones. Ever 5 years Acura produces a new model or new body style. If you notice, the integra is not the only one that is gone... so is the CL and the Vigor.

They still make Integras they just renamed it in the usa [RSX] and gave it a different look. In Japan its a Honda Integra because they don't make Acuras over seas.
