I have a 1996 acura integra 2 door hatchback,I went to les schwab tire centers today and asked for a brake inspection.the guy took off all four wheels and looket at them with a flashlight, he said the drum brakes look good(on rear) and the the disc brake pads, on the left had 60% left, and on the right had 40% left, and that they looked in good condition and saw nothing wrong.sometimes the brakes will squeak and sometimes it will kinda stutter when coming to a stop, ( not severe though)does any of this seem abnormal??

yes this is normal whenever you have medal spinning that fast (your rotor) and a brake pad clamping down on it you are sometimes bound to have some noise, you can remove the pads and put some white lightning grease on the back of the pad (the side that doesnt come in contact with the rotor) or some brake pad gel. only if it bothers you, other than that you are not doing any harm

if the brakes shutter than this means that your rotors are warped and will need to be replaced. the side that has 40% left on the pads cold indicate that you have a brake caliper that is starting to hang up. this can be fixed by removing the caliper and cleaning the sliders and re greasing them with the proper grease. as for the noise its caused by dust and dirt rubbing on the pad and rotor. you can take a garden hose and put it directly on the caliper if you can spray the hose though the wheel than this would be best the will clean out the caliper and take out all the dirt and brake dust. this always works for me.

First off, you don't have drum brakes in the rear, you have disc brakes. Only civics come with drum brakes in the rear, and I don't know why anyone would swap drum brakes in, instead of using discs.Uneven pad wear can be caused by two things.First the piston seal could be bad and leaking fluid. To which you would have uneven brake pressure. In your case your left side would be the problem [the side with more pad life would have less pressure being pushed against it]Secondly, your front brakes have a bushing in one of the caliper bolts. When it goes bad, it allows play in the caliper which could put uneven wear in the pads.I'm not 100% sure what you mean by stutter, but if you're talking about your steering wheel shaking when you are coming to a complete stop, or under heavy braking, then your rotors are warped to which you do NOT need to replace them right away. You can turn rotors numerous times until you actually need to replace them. Before you attempt to turn them though, you need to check if they are in spec [if they are wide enough to be cut and not go under the limit set by the manufacturer]
