I'm looking into purchasing a used 2005 Acura RSX with 53K. The car looks to be in perfect condition, no body damage, no flaws in interior, everything is functioning, etc. However, the seller is the second owner who purchased the car from the first owner who had an accident which resulted in significant body damage to the front left panel and bumper. The second owner had everything fixed and there are no traces of the accident, but the car still has a reconditoned title. The owner had the body work fixed and put in new headlights.Considering the low mileage and the condition of the car, what do you think would be a fair price for car? While KBB can give me a good estimate, the condition doesn't allow me to input all of the factors. Considering I'm getting a pretty generalized answer that doesn't address all of the car's qualities, I feel like KBB isn't the most accurate resource. I really appreciate the input!

I would stay away from the car personally. If the accident was a while back when the car was worth a good $15k then that means the accident of the car was estimated more than $15k to fix for them to total out the car. For somebody to decide to fix the car then they must have done a ghetto job somewhere along the line so it comes out a lot less where it will be worth it to them. Dont be fooled by the body just looking somewhat straight, there can also be bad welds that you might not be able to see or even a bend frame. If you really want the car I would only offer no more than $6000 considering its not even a Type-S and you can pick up a clean title RSX Type-S now for a good $11000. I would also suggest taking it to a mechanic to put the car on a lift and check it out.

The car is probably worth around 10,000. Even though it was damaged it is still working probably. Just because it is a salvage title does not mean the car doesn't work. You just need to test drive it and inspect it. If you have no idea if the car is good or not you can just go to a reliable mechanic and check the car.
