how to turn the maintainance required lights off on a 2006 Acura MDX?

the service guy is supposed to do that when it's serviced. If they didn't take it back....

it means thats theres something going on..you need to go get it looked by someone who has a tuner like a super lube they will tell you why its on more than likely it goingto be something small like an O2 censor since its only an 06. dont tell them to take that light off unless they fix the problem if you let them then your car will not last as long as it could have if you would have fixed it

Anyone with a halfway decent obd code reader can turn it off, go to a mechanic or autozone. Autozone is legally not supposed to do it, but it depends on who is working. Or, I guess this is silly of me, but you could fix whatever the problem is that is causing the light to come on.....just a thought.

A lot of times the maint. light simply means you need an oil change. To turn off your maint. light you hold down the ODOMETER stick for 10 seconds while the car is off and while still holding it turn on your car and keep it held for another 10 seconds it will flash a couple times, go solid and then go off. The light will start blinking 5 times every time you turn on your car in 4500 miles and go back on solid in 5000 miles.If you think back to 5000 miles ago and you realize that you did have an oil change than you know that is what the light was for and you just need to remember to change your oil pretty soon.

hold down your ODOMETER RESET button on the dash, turn the key to the ON position, (not turning the engine on, just the on position, i.e. lights, radio and fans come on) keep holding the button, you should hear a faint click under the dash, KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON, watch your maint. req'd light, it should flash several times, stay solid for a few seconds, then go out. once it goes out, you're done, it shouldn't come back on for another 7500 to 8000km or so
