The LS is fine if you get the 5 spd. In an auto it's a little underpowered. If you have to have an auto get the gsr with the higher horsepower.Had a 97 LS with the 5spd for 11 yrs. Great car, never had any problems.Good Luck with whatever you choose.

A GSR for sure!! They are both 1.8 liter motors but the gsr is pushing 170hp and with vtec.as the ls pushes 140hp non vtec.to enjoy the teg more go with a 5 speed.i have a 99 ls but i wish i had a gsr.But its still a great car!

GSR all the way. Engine sizes are the same, but the GSR has VTEC. If you don't know what VTEC is, then I suggest you drive a LS and push it to the limit, then drive the GSR. Believe me you will notice the difference around 4500rpm. GSR's respond well to you basic bolt on peformance parts: I/H/E. GSR handles well too, even comes with a stock strut tower brace if that makes you feel better. Depends on what year of LS it will have fat Five rims prolly or meshes. Meshes are nice, but nowhere near as cool as the GSR's stock blades(chrome). Only thing I can say about the LS is that it would be a better motor to boost because the abscence of VTEC. Don't spend your money trying to convert your LS motor to an LS/VTEC either, in my eyes its way to much work and expensive. Good Luck
