I've read online that the 2003 DC5 type-S has problems in second gear, grinding, and 3rd gear popping out. This isn't true is it?Another question is, is a '03 dc5 type-s with 128911 miles worth 8990?

I own a 2005 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe 6MT. I believe this 6 speed manual tranny is very similar to the DC5's. I bought my car used, and when i got it it definitely had a problem with 3rd gear! It would easily pop out of gear a lot of the time, and sometimes it was hard to get it to go into that gear.I looked on all kinds of honda forums, and found out that if you replace the tranny fluid with GM synchromesh it solves the problem. I did that and the problem has been gone. It has been 1 1/2 years since i swapped the fluid and my 3rd gear problem has dissappeared for good.But again, im not positive if its the same or similar transmission, but I am thinking it is.I suggest going on a Honda/Acura or and RSX Forum online and you will find more than enough information.Good Luck

u can get a much better price i believe, and i wouldnt get one with that many mile, most people drive them hard. look on clubrsx.com lots of used ones for sale there. As for second gear grind and third gear popout. They do happen occasionally some cars more than others. In my car it happens once or twice every other day although sometimes ill go a week or 2 no problems. its not really a big deal doesnt affect my enjoyment of the car. Overall I love the car and there isnt anything american in that segment that can touch it overall.
