in the fuel tank, you can get to it by removing the inspection plate either in the trunk or under the rear seat, which is lot easier than droping the gas tank.

It can make the car quit, or keep it from starting. It is located in the fuel tank to replace, the fuel tank must be removed you can not replace the pump through the access panel or by taking rear seats out. You can only test the pump from there or replace the fuel sending unit. What problems are you having? The fuel pumps for that make/model are not known for going out, most commonly the fuel pump relay or 'main relay" under the dash goes bad keeping the fuel pump from working so the car wont start and could stall while driving.

Well like the first answer says, you can take the rear seats out and it is underneath the seat. You CAN change it through this plate. I have changed mine this way and so have plenty of my friends. As far as the problems it could cause, like the other guy said it could turn off, not start, or even make your car run lean. which means your car might be getting some fuel but not enough, which in turn risks the possibility of blowing the motor. If you think you have a problem with your fuel then you should also check the injectors and the filter as well. It might even be just a filter problem. Well good luck and hope this was a little helpful.
