Shift about 500 > 800 rpms below the red line on the tachometer. After a few tries you will be able to hear the best place without using the tach.

The moron who answered first apparently doesn't know there's a country called Canada. Shift at around 6000 RPM and you will do just fine.

Well, in my 02 type-s, i have kpro and i shift at around 8000, and my limiter is at 8600, but around 8100 is where my car quit pullin on the dyno... to "powershift" it really depends on how your car is setup, but on a base 5 speed i would guess around 7000, though im not too familiar with the base models.
