It was discontinued due to poor market performance and the cost of producing the car. The NSX's chassi and the body style is comparable of the corvette. However the pricing on it was out of budget and during it's production times, people bought American cars than Japanese cars, unlike today.

They stopped producing it, it was not selling enough units. As you know supercars have come a long way since the NSX first came out, and people paying big bucks for a supercar want the latest and best. But don't worry, they have been developing and testing an all new V10 NSX, and it should be introduced soon at one of the big international auto shows, probably within 18 months ! Yay ! In the mean time I'd say that the closest new car to the original NSX that you can buy right now is the Audi R8 which is now available with the awesome 5.2 liter Lamborghini V10 from the Gallardo (as an option for about $45k extra!). But the standard engine is still excellent in the R8.enjoy !R.S.

The NSX was cancelled because of sagging sales & its inability to meet ever more stringint govt. air pollution requirements. Also, it was built by hand in Japan, and that kept unit prices high. Also, a lack of a model refresh in conjunction with a load of 'supercars' cropping up in the battle for who has the most horesepower put the NSX in a tough spot. Technically however, the NSX remains a superb sports car & is still a winner on many a race track.Honda had plans for an NSX replacement, and even released preliminary information with YouTube clips circulating of the new version running on a test track. However, the scuttle is that Honda has cancelled the NSX program due to the economy. Honda also pulled out of F1 racing, so clearly their corporate 'suits' are more concerned about focusing on their 'core' business...in these times, that may not be a bad idea.BTW, the (outgoing) NSX has a chassis superior to the Corvette. The 'Vette sports a front engine design whereas the NSX is of a mid-engine design. Mid-engine cars inherently are better balanced in the areas of cornering/handling.

No one bought it so they discontinued it in 2005.If you are talking about the new one, Honda cancelled the plans for the new Acura NSX because of the bad economy. But they said if things get better, they will continue with designing and producing the new NSX.
