I am going to buy a 2000 Integra GSR /w manual transmission this week. It has 110,000 miles and is bone stock. The car is in excellent condition, looks like it just rolled off the lot. There isn't even any grime on the motor. I was curious how reliable these vehicles are? I know they are among the most stolen cars out there, but what else should I know. Am I looking at trouble?

I've had an integra rs for 8 years. over 149k on it. just look to make sure it is maintained, and by that I mean rust, and front end components, those break the most on those cars (tie rods, cv joints, etc). they are very reliable, but I would look at one with less miles, but that's just me. Make sure the vtec is working if you test drive it by taking it close to redline. If there is oil issues, vtec will not engage.

The Acura Integra is a very reliable vehicle. The GS-R also has a nice B18C1, DOHC VTEC, engine. It responds well to mods, or is perfectly fine just stock. If you are someone who wants to modify a car, or just someone looking for a fuel efficient car that still packs a bit of a punch, this is a very good car. Good luck with your new teggy

these are cars are very reliable. i had over 250K miles on my 94 integra and didnt have any problems. you should get an alarm though... mines, along with other integra owners are always haveing things stolen from it. here the specs for it just in case you want to see: http://www.team-integra.net/sections...ticleID=43also join the site when you get your teg. its free and theres tons of info that can save you money, help with maintenance and stuff like that

this is a very good car. As long as you take care of it (tune ups,oil changes). It should last you a while. I've had my 95 gsr for 4 years now w/minor problems w/the ignition n a few minor idling problems, but other than that it runs great. I would recommend getting a alarm system or a clutch lock for it though. You are right about it being one of the most stolen cars out there. Good luck

The Integra is a very reliable car. There are tons of aftermarket parts for it. Like the previous poster, I do reccomend checking out www.teamintegra.net This site has tons of info, and I've used it many of times for maintenance, and other miscallaneous subjects. The performance specs are great, the gas mileage is good, and they look sexy! I bought mine bone stock as well with 94.000. I suggest change your oil regularly, and stay up to date on your maintenance, and you should have a solid car.

These are exellent cars and it should serve you well for a long time to come... well at least through 300,000 miles if my hondas and acuras hold true. The issue with all these cars is that Hondas and Acuras all have interference engines. This means that the pistons and the valves share the same space in the engine. They are kept apart by the timing belt, i.e. it times when each part can use that same space. These timing belts need to be replaced at the interval specified in the owner's manual and I think that is either 60,000 miles or 100,000 miles or somewhere around there. Yours has 110,000 miles on it and regardless if it looks pretty or not, if that timing belt hasn't been replaced the engine will be ruined when it breaks. Ensure, or at least budget the purchase around having that timing belt replaced. Also, with a manual transmission, you can expect needing a new clutch soon. Figure that into the cost as well. Get some quotes for these services and subtract it from the "good condition" value on Kelly Blue Book, www.kbb.com or other such service and see if the deal still sounds sweet.Good luck!

Depending what the price is, the Integra would be a great purchase.
Hondaswap.com has some of the best techincal information than any other Honda/Acura site out there. It's worth looking into if you are going to purchase a used Honda. |
