I would shoot for an 05-06...try to get the blaze orange metallic paint color too...best RSX color ever available and by far the rarest. Then get a cold air inake or AEM v2 and a hondata reflash and you'll be set

Stay away from the 06. They have a horrible repair record.

Nope. No difference. Same performance. The newer one just looks better with the slightly different lights and bumpers.

i like the older body style better (barely a difference looks wise)but there not the same two different motors.K20A2 02-04 type s, K20Z1 05-06 type s.2005 & 2006 RSX Type-S Additional Enhancements: * The engine intake and exhaust modifications that boost the power of the Type-S models to 210 hp (157 kW) at 7800 rpm (revised to 201 hp (150 kW) in 2006), compared to 200 hp (150 kW) at 7400 rpm on the previous model. * Higher performance camshafts sourced from the Type-R engine * An enlarged throttle body sourced from the Type-R engine * Air intake duct enlarged for increased air flow * Larger diameter exhaust pipes to increase exhaust flow obtained from the Type-R model * Catalytic converter optimized to reduce exhaust backpressure * Larger diameter front strut tower bar gas * Bushings replaced by bearings on strut mount * Deck lid spoiler * 6-speed transmission optimized with a lower final gear ratio for quicker acceleration and carbon synchronizers replacing brass on 5th and 6th gears for a smoother shift feelFirmer stabilizer bars (front and rear for Type-S, front for RSX)compared from the previous 04' to the new 05'for performance which the car is about get the 05-06 if possible, if not the 04 is still a ok choice.

I would suggest getting a used 06 Civic SI instead of the RSX-S. The civic has basically the same engine as the 05-06 type-s, however, the civic SI K20Z3 has balance shafts which reduce the HP rating to 197 HP under the new SAE ratings. The main advantage of the civic SI is that is comes with a limited slip differential. All RSX's come with an open diff. The only con is that the SI is a bit slower due to it's extra weight, however, with a hondata reflash, you can easily overtake a stock 05-06 RSX-S in a civic SI.

I've got an 02 type-s and love it! I prefer the 02-04 body over the newer ones, i just don't like the way the rear of the newer ones look. But anyway, don't settle for an SI like the other guy said, a type-s is better. But I'll warn you, the transes in type-s's suck! I don't know about the new ones, but I know that from 02-04 that 1st,2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears are notoriously bad even on a rebuilt tranny. Mine is only bad going into 4th so I guess I'm lucky.
