im thinking of buyiing a 2002 rsx base model 5spd trans. ive heard rsx have problems with the transmission in the 2002 and 2003 modesl but i heard its only the type s. im buyiing it for 6000 it has 115k miles and the guy is about 50 years old and wanted 8k for it but i talked him down cuase of kbb price.hes owned it for 3 years since it had 95k miles and he said he hasnt changed the timing belt and not sure if it has been changed. should i buy this car i checked carfax evertyhing checked out. is the mileage to higih you think should i changed the timing belt asap or is there a way to see if its been changed. let me know your opinion thanks.

rsx is a great car. have it fully checked out. this car has a timing chain not a belt, so it doesn't have to be changed

thats a great deal!! the trans problems arent so bad that they should keep you from buyin it. And no 115k is nothin for a honda. i bought my 02 type-s with 113k miles for 11k and i just broke 120k miles and its still runnin flawlessly. And it's a timing chain, not a belt so it shouldn't be a problem either.
