My local Honda dealership is selling a 2005 Acura MDX Touring with a little under 30,000 miles. The car comes with an excellent lifetime warranty, which will keep my upkeep costs low. The car looks like it is in great condition. Is is a dependable, reliable vehicle?

How much is it? And you mention "LIFETIME" warranty? Are you sure about that? It might have "pre-owned" warranty that warranties it x-miles or y-years after the basic warranty, but I doubt it would be a lifetime warranty. As for the vehicle, how much? If it's under $25K it's a good deal, if over, then too much. Anything over $30K and it's a bad deal.

I'd have it (or any car I planned on buying) checked out by a mechanic I trust. It might cost you $30 or $40 but is well worth it. Also run a carfax on it to make sure the title is clean and it doesn't have a bad history. The MDX has a pretty good reputation, but you should always have a car checked out first. Also you need to negotiate that price. In this economy I'd bet you can get at least 10% off. Can't hurt to try. Car dealers (even the luxury imports) are dying to sell cars.
