99-03 come factory equipped with POS auto transmissions.Other than that and them having timing belts rather than chains, they're okay.But, your further google searching will find this out for you.

tranny problems....i have one and the tranny went 6 monthsa after i bought it (used) at 130kreplaced it with one that had a lifetime parts and labor warranty so no more worries and car is excellent!!!!!

RUN AWAY!!! Serious transmission problems on the 00-03 TL and CL. Absolute crap! I have an 01 and I had the trans replaced at 60k miles (I bought it at 50k miles, so I have no idea if the previous owner had it replaced, too). I'm at 87k miles - so far so good, but I'm not holding my breath. In other words I wouldn't buy this car again.Check out this message board - its for the 02 model, but its the same transmission. http://www.carsurvey.org/viewmorecom...w_71264_6.html
