Hi. the water has hit something electrical. Most likely the wires and coil. You can use a hair dryer. Also take a look under the car. To see if something is hanging down. You can add more information later.

water and ignition parts never get along well together. Buy a can of WD 40, spray every wire in sight including the distributor and I would be surprised if it would not start. Anyone who has ever gone off roading into deep water will know this trick

Does it crank? It is hydrolocked? Meaning did the intake chamber get completly submerged and it sucked up water instead of air? If that is the case, I am sorry, but your rods are bent and you need a bottom end rebuild. Give it time to dry out and try it agian, if not then try looking for water in your cylinders with a flashlight. If there is no sign of water, then manually crank it over (counter clockwise) on that engine, with the spark plugs out of it, make sure every piston is hitting TDC. If they are then odds are that your looking at an electical, problem, solenoid could of fried, distributor could have alot of moisture in it, etc etc

Went through a "puddle" or a mini river? Did you have a cold air intake and perhaps suck in water into the chamber? If you hydrolocked, then we're talking DOA for the car. An engine is made to compress and ignite air/fuel mixture, not solid water so when your engine probably sucked in water and then when the chamber tried to compress that "BOOM" locked up and busted your internal parts.Sorry, but it's probably DEAD.... like Bones McCoy use to say "It's DEAD Jim !!!"

Sorry to hear that dude. I probably think that it has something to do with the intake though I don't know that much about DOA.
