i installed a new distributor on my 92 gs-r because the old one would die with 20 miles of driving it......so i installed a aftermarket distributor i started it and fired up perfectly it even idled better....but once i reved it it would not go past 3000 rpms i checked the timing and position i double checked everything!!! it acted like it had a rev limiter...so i put my old dizzy on and it revved perfectly but i dont want to drive it because i will get stranded with the old dizzy...... what could be the problem with my car or my brand new dizzy???

buy a brand new one. don't buy re-manufactured distributors with lifetime warranties. you'll be returning, replacing, and re-installing them for a lifetime. you might just need a new ignition coil in your old distributor. they die out from heating up often. mine was doing that and it led me to installing an external coil. you'll need a MSD super coil and the MSD distributor cap.
