Yes, it is a good car. but it's the one and only Acura I don't care for. That thing needs a V8 and simple rear drive system to compete with Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, Mercedes and the others. Look at the Infinti M35 or M45 before you look at the RL.

It is a great car. However, I would urge you to at least test drive a Lincoln MKS and/or Cadillac STS before you make the leap. RL performance is comparable to the MKS, but the STS is faster whether you opt for the direct-injection 3.6-liter V6 or the V8. All are reliable, dependable, and safe. Good luck with the search.

The RL excels reasonably in regard to the four areas of importance to you. Arguably, the RL most certainly excels in the last three in good measure beyond its competitors. Some have complained that the RL is lacking in performance...they mostly mean linear acceleration. True, the RL is powered by a 3.7L V6, but the motor cranks 300HP, though not as torquey as V8 counterparts. Overall, the car is not slow, nor a slouch. And it's Super Handling - All Wheel Drive is a superior technology that individually directs power to each wheel, insuring stellar handling beats RWD only designs. There's really nothing wrong with the RL as a car. If I had one complaint, it might be price, but after you go look at one, see for yourself if it's not a first-class option. Again, in the areas of technology, overall performance/handling, build quality, ride quality, reliability, resale, interior cabin layout, etc., you'd be hard pressed to trump it. And for sure & by comparison, I'd be r-e-a-l leery of jumping into bed with one of Detroit's options, considering how there are doubts just how long these companies will be around making the cars they now produce. Any Govt. bailout will likely include pairing-back & even closing production the American luxury cars are the first to go. In the face of this, Honda (Acura) rates an A+.
