Default LS tranny on a GSR motor?

How would that work out? The LS trannies can hit 150 but the GSR trannies only hit 130, but sacrifice lower top speed for acceleration. What if you put the gearing and top speed of an LS tranny, with the power of a GSR b18c1? Wouldn't it be like the best of both worlds? As far as accelerating it would be better than the LS tranny in the LS motor, but a little sluggish compared to the GSR tranny, then on the other hand, your top speed would be higher. Any thoughts on this? I might just try thisThat is true, acceleration helps more. However having a motor with Vtec, paired up with a long geared LS tranny could be killer on the streets. Just my opinion

um...it is worth a try. You can always pick up acceleration by upgrading power. Top speed can only be changed with gear changes. Also think about how often you exceed 130. A 13 second 1/4 mile run usually has a speed of 102mph. 12 second 1/4 mile is around 113. Just approximations but that should give you some idea. If you are worried about street racing, keep in mind that if you get a big lead at the start it is harder for your opponent to catch you with their top end by the end of the race.Me personally I'd go for acceleration

Absolutely not. I had a B16 and I put an LS tranny on it, waaay slower. VTEC engines work better at high rpms and their tranny's keep them in that powerband. An LS tranny will drop below the powerband (where the car is accelerating nicely) and you basically have to build up power every shift. Unless you're going turbo, stick with the vtec tranny.

i agree with the 2nd answer...but if you were to put the ls tranny on the gsr....youll be slow as fucc...slower then a ls motor with a gsr tranny....

take it from people with the experience cuz your not understanding how it works.the ls trans on a gsr is horrible. i bet the ls motor with a gsr trans is faster than a gsr with an ls trans...
