Default I have a car question about my boyfriends acura integra gs?

I know it is hard to diagnose a car problem without looking at the car itself and that asking on here is a stretch. His check engine light came on today and we hooked a code reader into the car. It came up with P1607, and the description it came up with made no sense so I googled it. I found out that it means Powertrain Control Module Internal Circuit Failure. He took it to Discount Auto Parts and they can't figure out what it means. Any ideas will be much appreciated. Also please no useless answers thanks.

sorry dont know but call the dealership maybe they will tell you or go to some Jap racin fourms where kids have these jap cars and they know alot excpessially if its a common code but check all the fuses and everything cause that could cause a failure in the circut but im sure you already did that if not its very easy just find the fuse box and test all of them

We may not get get a better tack to take with "PCM internal circuit failure"- you know, that sounds like take out the PCM and replace it, then hope there's nothing else wrong that'll pop the new one. At least you have the code to ask at a qualified shop about. Look for this PCM in Chiltons auto repair manual and see if it's a little $100 thing that slips in and out like a fuse or if it's buried somewhere it'll take $500 labor to get to before it can even be removed. Trip to the public library and get your hands on the Chiltons foreign car repair manual covering your make and year. Hopefully you can cut this job down to size, maybe DIY and not spend too much. If it's too much , bite the bullet and take it to Honda. You'll get best quality parts there anyway. Good luck.
