Default '97 Acura Integra GS-R Manual Transmission Problem

I have a '97 Acura Integra with manual transmission. I've noticed it's been shifting a little notchier and having trouble getting in 1st and reverse. There also seems to be more play in the clutch petal. It has 100,000 miles and isn't driven very often. Mainly used for city driving. Is it the clutch? The petal? Expensive to fix? Should I take it to a acura dealership (far away) or will a regular transmission repair shop that works on foreign cars be ok? thanks guys. the fluid level was low.

Your clutch is not fully disengaging and since you mentioned more clutch petal travel you are low on fluid in the clutch master cylinder. Flush the system and refill with fresh dot 3 brake fluid and see if that helps. It's likely you have a leak in the master or slave cylinder so one or both will need to be replaced. If one is bad then I would recommend changing both. Any shop that works on forgien cars should be able to take care of this for you. Just don't get sucked into buying a new clutch.

Check the fluid in the master cylinder and make sure it's up to the full mark. It could be the clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, master cylinder etc. Any transmission shop should be able to work on it.Good luck
