I bought a used 2005 MDX in June and love it. It's powerful (tuned 6 cylinder VTEC 3.5 engine) yet economical (I average about 20mpg if I don't drive like a maniac). I lovingly refer to it as Hugh Hefners School bus. ;-)

I just bought my 05 MDX a couple days ago. I still have seller's title as Honda Lease Trustee and haven't brought it to DMV for registration yet. It is a great car loaded with tons of functions that I haven't figured out how to use all of them yet. Very quiet and smooth ride. Not sure about gas milage as I haven't finished my first tank yet, but I did not care much as I only drive about 4000 miles per year. (The voice control on 05 is definiately a big toy for me. My only complaint on this car is that I am the driver, so I got no chance to enjoy its Rear Entertainment System.) 2nd row space is plenty for 3 adults. The 3rd row is tight with not much space left for cargo after the seats open. If you need 7 seats all the time, it is not very good. I am 220lbs + a little more, I can fit there but not comfortable for long ride for sure. My 5 yrs old son is happy with 3rd row. Anyway, I expect to use it only a few times per year anyway.Suggestion to you: you may be able to get a better deal on 05 instead of 04. There are lots of 3 yrs off-lease MDX right now. They are selling at great price. I got my 05 touring w/navi and RES, 73kmiles for $15550 including all fee except DMV charges that I go to do on my own. (You can get the basic model with a lot less milage about the same price. I asked a dealer I know in NY to get this for me from dealer auction. Mileage to me is OK as I don't drive much, and it balance off after a few year for me. ) If you need to finance, you should look at deals from Acura dealer. I heard they are offering 0.9/2.9 for used MDX as to unload the off-leased car. Also, there is a www.acuramdx.org - a club for MDX owners exchanges information about MDX that you should take a look too.
