Might seem like a rookie question, but i have an acura TL and i love the car. But i would like to get the car more horsepower. I dont want to buy a viper or corvette, cause i love this car. I have money to spend, im not talking a tad bit faster, im talking horsepower around 550-600. I would like to soup it up.However, is this even possible, any car experts? If so then how?

ok heres what your looking at:first off, you need the Hondata chip for your ECU. this will give you the tuning capabilities to handle such horsepower as well as over ride the governor, change timing/ fuel curves ect ect ect.second of all, you are going to need to get yourself a bulletproof rotating assembly. I.E: forged pistons (JE) forged H beam rods (manley) and a forged steel crankshaft or billet steel crank (SCAT)as for your head, you will need to have it ported and polished professionally by a shop that is equipped and well experienced in hondas.you will be needing stainless steel oversized valves, titanium valve springs and retainers, as well as some high lift billet steel camshafts. crower, comp and crane come to mind for that.intake and exhaust will need to be either custom built or highly ported and coated with "Jet-Hot" or a similar ceramic coating to control the excess heat you will be making.Turbo: your gonna need one. typical setup is a Garrett T3/T4 turbo and for what your trying to get i would go with a 60mm turbo or larger. a single turbo will get you there but you will be pushing around 16-20 psi of boost. (read ALOT)as for the trans, you will need to beef that sucker up.also, hit up the "drive shaft shop" for some level 5 CV joints to handle the horsepower to the wheels. All in all, your looking at about 35 to 40 thousand dollars for what your wanting to make this puppy ROLL!!!Good luck!! and ANYTHING is possible with the right amount of money.

if you wanna get around 600 hp, you should probably have about $10,000 or $15,000 laying around. if so, chip, turbo or supercharge, cams, fuel injectors, flywheel, clutch, short shifter, upgrade fuel line, nitrous, boost controller, port and polish heads....

All you need is a turbo kit and a Manual transmission if you have one. Most turbokits only work with Manual transmission. If you have an automatic, then sell it and get a Manual TL or a TL Type S, which has about 20HP more than a regular TL.It comes with everything you need for that power. It comes with turbo, intercooler, piping, Cold Air Intake, blow off-valve, performance chip, some engine internals, and more. And get performance tires to handle all that power. All of this would cost up to $10,000.It is very possible and I am sure some people have done what you are asking about.Look for websites or tuner car shops.www.modacar.comwww.hopupracing.comwww.inject edperformance.comwww.autoparts.comwww.vividracing. comwww.car-stuff.comGreddy websiteTurbokinetics websiteAEM or Injen websites.HKS websiteHPA website

i have a tl also and i asked my friend that works at a honda dealership the same ? lol... first of all the biggest problem is how everything under the hood is arranged... theres not much room to add a supercharger or whatever under there... second of all its a luxury car not a sports car so the handling would go right out the window which it already does at about 90 mph... air gets under the car and lifts it up causing it to be a very unreliable ride at high speeds... plus the transmission in it is known for going bad... depending on the year you might have a 100,000 mile warranty on the tranny cuz of that fact... then its not a stick so for your case you would wanna do a conversion to turn it into a manual which is easily over $10,000 then the next best thing easiest and most affordable is to get nos... while your at it get like a 200 shot and hold on but your best bet is to either get a diff car or if you wanna stay acura get an nsx... expensive and not worth the money but very rare

I own an '06 TL AT, and a sister car, a V6 Accord, and have done enough performance mods to both rides. Also, I traffic on websites that are about performance mods for the TL (ACURAZINE.COM, Temple of VTEC.com, and V6Performance).You'll never get the power levels you mentioned...not without rediculous amounts of cash, and endless headaches...Honda simply did not engineer the drivetrain to accomodate such power loads. In order to get over 300 hp, you'll need to go with Comptech's (aka, CT-Engineering) 4 psi supercharger...this is the ONLY forced induction kit available for the 3rd Gen TL. The folks I know who have dropped $10K into their cars are running '04 - '06 MTs, with the supercharger, intake/exhaust (stage 3), j pipes, underdrive pullies, & high flow cats. Some have dropped in 3.5L heads. Even so, ~ 350-360 hp is tops. One serious power limit is that this is an open deck motor (J32), that does not lend itself to excessive pressure. Understand that Honda made their J Series engines to supply reasonable power for family car & sport sedan & medium SUV applications. It just won't handle excessive pressures without serious compromise. You'd also need forged internals & lots of custom shop work...all for marginal returns to scale. There are 320 whp TLs running. Yes, they get some torque streer problems, but it's not as bad as some would think...a juiced TL is easier to handle than a stock C6 Vette (under full acceleration). However, where the TL's FWD will get you is in extreme inefficeincy of getting lots of added power to the pavement. Cars under hard excelleration shift their weight to the rear...the front end tends to lift off. This is totaly contrary to what it takes to launch a FWD car efficiently...you don't want the front wheels that drive the car lifting & spinning! This is one reason why a TL Type S MT, which should be in the same acceleration class as the IS350 (AT only) is at least 1/2 second slower...both of these cars deliver similar wheel hp (not flywheel hp). However, the best the Type S can manage is 0-60 in ~ 5.5 seconds, whereas the stock IS350 can run as quick as 4.8...the IS is rear wheel drive! The point here being that you'd have one extremely inefficient TL running 500+hp...it would still launch relatively crummy compared to RWD designs. The TL is one great entry level luxury, sport sedan...a superb value too...and it looks sharp! However, experience has shown that the best one can expect by applying off-the shelf mods that don't significantly compromise reliability & handling is about 330-350 flywheel hp...you'll be plenty quick with that. Any greater needs necessitate a different chassis. If $ is no object, and you have lots of it, consider buying a used NSX...it will handle 500+ HP, and as a RWD design will give you back impressive results for your tuning efforts!
