ok..i heard acura TL's tranny breaks faster then Lexus IS300 is that TRUE?

there was a major lawsuit that honda lost on the v-6 tranny's for those years. i don't know about the is300 tranny, but i'd basically just stay away from that year acura.

i suspect the broken transmission are likely caused by abusive behaviour such as 'neutral drop' starts and not design or manufacturing defectsyou should be fine as long as the previous owner did not drive the car like an idiot

The Acura TL has had some transmission problems for those years. The Transmission is reported to fail at high speeds and bring the car to a halt. There was a large recall for these cars, and the transmissions where fixed. However, transmissions replaced prior to March 2005 are reported to also break. A 3rd gear fix supposedly solved the problem in March of 2005. After this fix, there have been no reported problems in the 2002-2003 Acura TL, an otherwise reliable car.
