Never heard of 'Type A' being applied to the TL. Mostly you'll hear/read of a 'base model' (3.2L), and the current 'Type S'. There is an 'A-Spec' version offered for the '04 ' 06 TL (3.2L, AT & MT versions)...not sure if the A-Spec is what you were referring to. If so, the A-Spec package includes the following significant upgrades:- suspension (struts) upgrade- tires/wheels upgrade- Brembo brakes (front) upgrade- steering wheel upgrade- body fairings upgrade- rear sway bar upgradeThe '07 -'08 Type S essentially offers the following upgrades over the earlier '04 - '06 AT & MT (stock) base models:- includes the A-Spec package- includes NAV package- includes backup camera- includes some interior cosmetic changes (i.e., 'red' LEDs interior lighting, performance -oriented cosmetics...pedals. etc.)- the RL's 3.5L motor tuned to 286 hp (the RL motor cranks 290 hp)- limited slip differentialAlso, the Type S is available in both AT & MT versions, whereas the current 'base model' is available with an automatic transmission only. The current 'base model' also has a slightly detuned suspension compared to the '04 - '06 models...this done to further accentuate the differences between the two current TL offerings from one another.Note: The fastest 3rd Generation TLs are actually the '04 - '06, 3.2L MT versions equipped with the COMPTECH supercharger. Currently no ready bolt-on forced induction kits exist for the Type S version.
