Default I just found out my car has a rebuilt title??

I just bought an 2003 Acura RSX for 14,000. The car is in excellent condition, as far as I know. I have had it for about a month, but just found out it has a rebuilt title. (My dad bought it for me so I wouldnt have noticed this at the point of sale) My friend was rifling through my glove comparment and looked at the title and told me it was a rebuilt title. What exactly does this mean? I mean, the car is in immaculate condition, drives like its brand new, I really cant find a single thing wrong with it...Im worried! Also, it was rebuilt a few years ago, so its not recent.

means the car was a total wreck..the insurance wrote it off...some junkyard or body shop fixed it...its worth about 20/30 persent less than book value....

that means that it was in a wreck and has been fixed back usually a re-built title means it was totaled out by an insurance company and rebuilt or it had enough damage on it to exceed the value of the car,but very often body shops buy these and repair them,if its seems to be a good car i wouldn't worry about it,but the only bad thing about those is they don't always hold the same amount of value that a normal car would hold,so if you ever get in an accident with it,the insurance company may not pay off the full value of it,other than that some of those if they are fixed right make good cars, just beware that a re-built car can sometimes cause more problems than one that hasn't been re-built,you probably got a good car though, good luck with it.

This is a good thang! means its like new again, probbly got totalled in a wreck and someone rebuilt it. your lucky but when you go to sell it it wont be worth as much but why sell it its like having a brand new car.

if you cant tell anything is wrong with your probably fine..but the value of your car is pretty low..14k is around bluebook for your car.. with a clean title. you got screwed. with a rebuilt title that cars worth like 8-10k.so basically the car is probably fine. it'll probably last a long time but when you go to resell it.. good luck getting that 14k back.

Nice car, but if a car has a rebuild title that means that it was involved in a collusion before and the owner repaired it. I would rather stay away from those because eventually they're are really hard to sell, my friend had something like that with a Scion TC but he couldn't sell his car for 14 months....even though it had 21,000 miles on it.

rebilt-rebuilt how about SALVEGED-SALVAGED! That mean's that the car was TOTALED as in WRECKED ect... a total loss by an insurance co. someone put humpDDUMPTY back together again and sold it to your father-you for 14K I could buy a NEW CAR and afford gas at 4.50 a gallon for a year or so (I wished my dad would have spent the equavllent on me waybackwhen) but alas I had to work for my 1st car ect.....

Since any accident is public record, contact the police dept in the city it was reported in and ask for the police officers report. A carfax would list the city the ticket or accident took place. If nothing else you'll know which end was damaged worse.

Keep an eye on the steering linkage, ball joints and drive shaft seals. What ends up happening in a collision is torsion to the moving parts and the seals and joints get damaged but don't leak or feel loose right away. 10,000 miles later the car starts wearing out fast and oil seals start leaking. Worse yet, it was a flood damaged car and the elctrical system will corrode and cause unimaginable grief. if you start seeing a pattern of problems beginning, sell it. You'll end up rebuilding the whole darn car again, piece by piece. The bodyshop guys just pretty it up and resell it. They neglect the parts unseen and do the least possible to pass inspection and get the road-worthy permit. I would avoid it in the first place but it's too late now.
