I have a 1990 Acura Integra RS and have a problem with the fuel pump. When I turn the key I hear the pump windup and the car starts. At times, the pump does not windup. The car turns over but does not start. What could be causing this?

Do you think I should replace my fuel pump? I was also thinking of replacing the Fuel Injection Relay as well. Any thoughts?

I'm going to pull the Fuel Injection Relay and have it bench tested maybe after work today. I hope its the relay, its much cheaper then the pump.

The main relay had cold solder on two of its terminals. I repaired the solder and the relay is good.

Hey Integra90, I am having the same problem as you did. Sometimes I hear the fuel pump and the car will start and sometimes I don't hear it and it won't start. Do you think it is the same problem causing it also? Where is the main relay located?

Its under the driver side dash by the kick pannel next to steering wheel area. Here is a very good How-To on How to solder and fix the Main Relay
