Default I just got a new '92 Acura Integra LS!!! How can I improve the engine performance and efficiancy?

Well I know a little bit about cars but I'm definitely no expert. I have a grandpa who knows a lot and he's told me some things I can do, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions... btw im not the least bit interested in installing a turbo kit or a super charger. i know it will make my car a hell-of-a-lot faster, but i hear it will also lessen the life of my engine. It's got a 1.8 L honda engine... as far as i know, everything is pretty much stock.

Use only Honda/Acura Parts, make sure the valve are adjusted correctly, there is a specific procedure for this,so have a professional perform this.Preferably an Acura dealer. Service it at regular intervals and be proud to own a well engineered, well built vehicle.

1.slicks- you want more surface area on the ground and tires it will decrease tire slipping.(you do not want to drive in the rain with these)2.limited slip differential- this also limits any tire slipping 3.cold air intake- cold air will make the mixture more explosive and will push the pistons down 4.exhaust system- an exhaust system will reduce back-pressure that will increase engine response, more mpg, decease the the load on the engine. (remember it will create a loud sound, when people like the sound they get on the engine to make it louder)5.manual transmission- there is less slippage in the transmission6.turbo- turning off the boost can increase efficiency7.super charger- at moderate speed and low boost the efficiency can be over 90%.8. spark plugs- they will create a better explosion9.spark plug wires- they will create a better explosion by getting more electricity to the spark plugs 10.gas pump- pump more gas to the engine11. strip the interior- reduces weight12. limit electric use- less load on the alternator13. aerodynamics- slide though the airhope this helps/ gives you an ideacheck out this website: http://www.andysautosport.com/

Turbo, it won't significantly lessen anything if you can keep it below lets say 7lbs of boost.

Make sure you have new Spark Plugs, Spark Wires, Battery Wires, Engine Oil is changed, Filters both AIR and OIL.Proper Tire Inflation. Check engine seals and exhaust leaks. Finally once all that is proper, then you can think about engine mods. After-Market Air Intake. Maybe an Exhaust from the Cat Back. Strut tower bars or Springs and Struts. Finally Join www.Team-Integra.net

tune up, advance the timing a few degrees, intake, headers, exhaust. That won't make a whole lot but it is a good start for the engine.
