Default exhaust leak?

I have a known exhaust leak on my 95 integra on the header right before it connects to my pipe...i can see a little smoke comming from it when i shut it off...and i also hear a loud rattle when i accelerate...could i be losing significant hp from this....and is there any other way of fixing this without getting it welded...ex. header wrap?

If the pipe is broken / cracked, you'll have to fix it right. There's no patch that'll hold up to the hi temp that close to the engine. Yeah, you are losing HP & mileage.

You could die from CO poisoning. Exhaust gasses are routed to the rear of the car so they do not get into the passenger compartment. With a leak up front, those gasses can enter the compartment and you would fall asleep; for ever. Get it fixed right.

No patch will help you, get it welded or get a better header (I'm going to assume this isn't a nice stainless one)

just get it welded. or get a new header. you shouldn't be losing any horsepower. as long as the exhaust gas has somewhere to go you shouldn't be losing any. if anything, it should be gaining because the gas is getting out faster. that's y some run open headers.
