Default Acura Integra GS-R horsepower?

I have a 97 integra gs-r, and yes, it is a real gs-r, i ran the VIN off the car. but for some reason I am really not getting all 170 hp out of it. anybody kno wut might be wrong? It also has a rev limiter BEFORE it redlines, like, 1000 rpm before it so i cant really wring its neck, any solutions?

As cars get older, they lose power. For example, the 2003 170HP Mazdaspeed Protege would now have 150HP from engine wear.

170 HP from the factory means 170 CRANK HP, not wheel HP. On average they put down about 145 at the wheels in stock form. Also most of the power comes from the VTEC, not in the lower RPM range. There have been numerous test on the factors of engine wear and other factors, and it does make a difference. A car with 150,000 miles will make, say 125 HP at the wheels while one with 15,000 miles makes 145.

it should redline at around 8k rpm.if its around 7k like you describe, you have an ls ecu. your sure you have a gsr motor right? just cuz its a gsr doesnt mean it has the original motor in it.the motor stamp should say b18c1.. front of the motor by the trans. and say vteccccccccc on the valve cover.take out the ecu, it should say p72 i beleive.
