I drive a 2004 TL and always change the oil every 3K to 5K. The owners manual says you can go longer as i recall, but oil is the life blood of the engine so always good to change it often. It also really depends on other factors such as driving conditions and such. If those are all highway miles you can stretch it out more. My driving is 60% highway and 40% city streets.

3,000 mile oil changes are no longer recommended. Wait until the oil life gets down to 15% or even lower. At 15% it will also give you a code of what service is needed. I own a acura and wait until it is at 10%. You can get this information in the owner's manual.
