Most vehicles have a factory installed rev limiter that keep you from over reving your engine. This is installed to keep you from blowing your engine. Since most vehicles are now computer operated, it has been programmed by the manufacturer to meet their specs and limit blown engines so they don't have to warranty them. You might try getting a chip from a performance part manufacturer. These chips will void your warranty, but they may allow you to exceed the rev limits on your car. You will want to check with an authorized repair facility or a trained mechanic before ordering and paying for a chip. There are several internet sites of car enthusiasts that can tell you how to increase performance and give tips and advice. Be aware that any alterations done beyond factory specs are not covered by warranties and get expensive.

when the engine is cold you won't be able to rev past the 5500 mark. and the redline on the base RSX (auto or 5 speed) is 6800 that's why you can't rev high. IMHO you don't have a clue about the RSX or even cars in general. i think you should spend some time reading and researching.
