Any gasoline "can" run on reg. If you care about it, then get premium. The Accord should also be filled up with premium unless your mom doesn't care much about it.

I have run ALL my Honda's and Acura's on premium...because they say to, and they also run better...(my sister has a Civic and runs IT on premium, cause it runs better). If your Mom doesn't want to run a car on premium...maybe she needs to buy American.

My bro has a TL and uses the cheapest gas around. So far is running fine with over 80,000 miles on it.In case of doubt, read your Owner's Manual.

I have a friend who owns a TL. The car salesman told him it's ok to use regular gas. However it's not on the owner's manual. So use it at our own risk.

You can do a test of you're brave enough to do it. You will get engine knock if the fuel you put in has lower octane and work your octane way up until the knocking goes away. Higher octane fuel explodes slower than lower octane fuel. Hence, if the car is designed to use premium, then do so or you'll get engine knock. This happens when the fuel explodes before the piston fully compresses it, which forces the piston to go down (the knock) when it's still in the process of completing the cycle going up. But putting premium fuel on cars that don't need it is a waste of money as it doesn't provide any improvement in performance at all.
