Default What is this thing installed in the truck of my new Acura TSX??

I got a brand new '08 Acura TSX back in November and just discovered that there's a black box installed on the roof of my truck. I believe it's a DVD player since it has one of those DVD logo on the front and it has a little slot on one side that looks like it would fit some sort of data card. Funny thing is when my sales person was going over all the features in my car when I picked it up, he never mentioned anything about this. And on the website it does not mention anything about a DVD player. I also tried to look through the owner's manual but could not find any information on it. So now I'm confused. Can anybody shed some light on this? Thanks!Ahhhh it makes perfect sense now! I think it is for my navigation system Thanks guys for clearing it up! I was not aware that it's actually installed in the trunk.

The navigation system/DVD player is mounted in the roof of the trunk.

A DVD player is available on that year, make and model vehicle so I would say that if you see the little DVD logo than you are definately looking at a DVD player. A 5 minute stop by the Acura dealership will finalize the answer.

It is for your GPS/Nav system. You can update it using a DVD that they will send you, or you get. If I were you I wouldn't mess with it.

This sounds like the DVD drive that your DVD Nav runs from. The maps/software needed to power the Navigation requires more space, so they use a DVD drive system instead of a harddrive system. This is actually beneficial so you can easily update maps, as they come available. Why in the trunk? Would you want to sacrifice space anywhere else in the actual cabin.

it is for your navigation system but does not play regular dvd's. It can only read the white nav. disc (according to the information in the navigation manual)
