The only thing that really matters is emissions. As long as it can comply with your county, state, etc. laws you will be fine.

no, there are all legal. Its not the engine thats illegal. make sure it has a catalytic converter on it and you should be fine. Its usually the vehicles that are illegal. There are many differences between the japanese cars and american cars.

not all japanese cars are illegal. the only problem with the car is the emissions. California has strict rules in emissions...this is why you dont see much TYPE R vehicles in the states.

Engines are not illegal, it all depends the setup you have on it. If you pass emisions then nothing is illegal.

its all legal if you pass smog check for your state if they have it
