Default What kind of muffler should I put on my 1997 Acura cl ?

It has the v6 vtec motor. It has the original muffler and dual exhaust. It is too quiet for me. I want it to be very loud. I want it to sound like the pimped out civics. What exactly would I have to buy to get that sound and what all would have to be done to achieve that? I am wanting to get out 150 dollars or less. I seen some exhaust systems that cost 700 dollars. Do I need only a muffler or a complete exhaust system? My car will have to pass an omissions test to be inspected. Thanks.

flowmasters are the best no question about it, they are a little expensive but you get what you pay for

Well depends, do you want performance and sound or just sound? If you want to add a little more power along with some noise a full exhaust system. Under $150 for a system is highly unlikely. Now for the muffler tip, sure it sounds nice, but won't add any power. You end up paying around $100, then add in installation. So since you're on a budget, go online on Ebay and just pick up 2 mufflers.

Get a hammer and chisel and punch a hole in the original muffler. Cost $00.00

If you just want some sound, get some Borla Universal Muffler Tips. They're only like $40 each and they'll make it louder, but they're not going to add any performance.
