I'd say tires...rotors/bad bearings will squeal and also shake the car...the CV shaft/joint will click when turning...(will also shake the steering wheel)I'm betting you still have the OEM's on...get some new tires and have them balanced well.I bet the whomping sound stops...(like it does when YOU stop)

Usually that type of noise is either wheel bearings or tires. Both can sound similar, first check your tires to see if their cupped (unevenly worn, kind of wavy, especially on the inside section of the tread). If they are not, then it is probably a wheel bearing. See if you can tilt each wheel up and down when the car is jacked up so see if a wheel bearing is loose. I don't think it is a CV Shaft, usually a CV shaft will make a clunking only when turning. My guess is tires though, maybe if you can't tell if the tires a cupped, try rotating the tires and see if the noise changes at all.

The whomping sound could be due bad tires as tires get worn they sometimes makes sounds as they're rotationing
