That is the problem with buying cheap air intakes, because you bought an air intake and not a cold air intake system you will be sucking a lot of hot air but thats the problem anywhere. The only true solution is either a sealed and shielded box that pulls air form outside the car. not many companies make these and usually you have to make one yourself. but check with some place like K&N

I have a 1997 Integra and my cone is right up near the front on the passenger side where the COLD air comes in though a hole where the factory intake used to be.

Unless it's a K&N intake with heat shield, don't even bother installing it. Watch what you're buying off e-bay.

Buy junk on eBay and that's what happens. Return the unit to the seller and buy a legitimate intake. Go to http://www.clubrsx.com/cr/AI.html and take your pick.

This sounds normal, it's a regular intake kit. This is not a "cold air" intake like the AEM. The cold air intake pipe would go through the passenger side fender and draw air from there. The cone sits in front of the wheel.
