I have an Acura 3.0 CL and everyday the first time it is driven, The first few stops the car doesnt downshift from gear 2 to gear 1 for a few seconds. What could be the problem, is something sticking or wat? After hte first few stops the car is fine the rest of the day, HELPmy dad added some fluid then other day.well i live in north eastern ohio. So yea, the engine temp goes all the way down off the scale on the hottest of days (90ish) from what i see on the dash display.

So your saying it does this in the summer time too??If it does it worse the colder the weather is and doesn't do it as bad when the weather is warm... Then I would continue to check the oil situation.. If its the same all the time no matter what time of year and no matter what the temp is outside.. then it's either got jello instead of oil or there is something else wrong...______________________________If it is a ver cold climate and you are running gear oil in your tranny.. it is just thick gear oil.. soon as it spins enough to get it moving and warmed up then every thing is smooth.. check your manual or check with a dealership and find out what type of fluid is supposed to be in the trans.. If its a used vehicle someone may have put the wrong fluid in it... Example : regular gear oil instead of synthetic oil...Could possibly drain the trans and fill with synthetic gear oil.. it doesn't thicken like normal gear oil.. when my friend moved to alaska he had to change all the fluids in his vehicle to synthetic.. because at -50 the gear oil turned into a gel..take the bottle that your dad used to fill the trans and try to poor it out early in the morning while its cold.. see how thick it is... then take it in the house and let it warm up.. now poor it again and see how much quicker it poors... Imagine gears trying to move and line up with each other so they can mesh with that thick oil in the way..If you let the car warm up a little more before you take off driving it .. things should work smoother.. even when your transmisson is in neuteral the gears in the bottom of the trans are spinning.. moving the oil around and starting to warm it up.. plus the heat from the engine will migrate into the trans too helping warm up the oil.. did that help???
