I would just disconnect the two colant hoses where they connect to the heater core. Find the inside diameter of the hoses, say 1/2", and find a short metal tube to connect the hoses to. I have used 1/2" copper tubing on my Toyota Corolla for a similar case myself. A hardware store with a plumbing section would be very beneficial for you. Plumbing sections will have many different metal tubes of different jobs, there has to be something that will work for you.
