Default Getting the inner CV joint to mate with the transmission?

I have a 1991 Acura Integra RS with a manual transmission. I have replaced CV/Axle assembly with a rebuilt unit. It is resting in place but I can't see to get the splined shaft to properly seat into the transaxle. It has a new spring clip and I am wondering if I should just bolt everything up and set the car down or if I need to pound on the end of the axle shaft to get the shaft to fully seat.

You shouldn't have to pound on it to get it to seat. Bolting it up and setting it down is the best.

Yes you do have to force it in by a sharp rap with a non metallic hammer. If it doesn't lock in all your tranny fluid(which is low right now) will spill out on the ground and you will damage the splines on the shaft and in the tranny when you attempt to drive it(It will no go anywhere either). The axle will plunk into the locked position when struck solidly. Me I can just ram them in by hand, but have been doing it for many years. Dont trash your outer cv joint threads!!!!!!!Ignore these fools that have never changed an axle!!!!!!!!ASE Cert Auto Tech, FWD my entire life
