I used to own a TL, now a 328i.In all fairness you are not really comparing two similar vehicles. The TSX starts at $29K and the BMW starts at $33K. But that's not the whole story. To get a decent set of extras on the BMW like leather seats, automatic box and a few other toys you can very quickly jack the price up to $38K which is Acura TL Type S territory. But here's the deal, the Acura should in theory be cheaper to maintain in the long term. It should get better gas miles. But the BMW is way more fun to drive, has 50,000 miles of free service, is a completely different class of vehicle, and is bigger. But the biggest reason I'd prefer the BMW is the fact that the TSX is about to become obsolete. The new body shape comes out soon. So buy one now and you are just looking to get nailed when you trade your car in.What I would do is wait until the spring and get the new BMW one series. The price will be much closer to the TSX, but it is a world away from the TSX in every single way that you'd measure a car.
