yeah so i have a 1998 acura integra gsr that i barely bought about 2 months ago and my vtec engaged at 4500, but after i replaced my water pump, timing belt and had my timing adjusted i noticed that my vtec now engages at 5400 rpm. so is this normal for a gsr?

you're getting it wrong there chief4400 is where the butterflies in the intake open up more5800 is where the third lobe on the cam is engaged-vtecthere is no point for a vtec engagement that is sooner unless you have forced induction or a good increase in displacement. it's about volumetric efficiency. it makes no point to switch to other lobe when you don't need the air you will just loose torque
