Default 1996 Acura 3.5 RL, 83k miles for $5,000. Is this good deal?

I am thinking about buying a 1996 Acura RL in excellent condition for $5,000. Kelly's value book is $6800. Is this a good buy and how is it on gas? Thanks!

I say excellent deal. If its valued at 6800 and your getting it for 5k, go for it... Acura's are very sturdy cars and will last a long time if taken care of. Make sure you do a car fax report on it first and go from there! good luck! Id jump all over it, but again 1.) Car Fax 2.) Take it to a mechanic and ask for a USed Car Inspection report! GL!

Its a great deal! You should buy it. Considering the fact that the most miles a person should put on a car a year is 15k, this car was definitely taken car of. Divide 83 and 15 and you get 5.5k. Whoever owned the car before didn't put a lot of miles on it for a car that is from 1996. My car is 3 years older than that and it has over 200k miles!

My only concern is that it hasn't been driven enough. My husband had a Honda Civic that was 10 years old and only 50k miles on it. The muffler kept rusting cause he wouldn't drive it enough and moisture set in. But if you take it to a trusted mechanic and express your concerns they can probably look it over.Someone suggested carfax - good idea. Cause that mielage is too good to believe - carfax can verify. If I'm not mistaken those Acuras were made in Japan and are awesome cars. The more recent ones made in the US have been a bit more problematic (my 01 TL and its transmission).

It was a good car we had a 97, just had some worn out bolts that made stuff rock near the end of its life. It also started to ride rough, check that

That is a really good deal. The Acura RL is Acura's best luxury car which compete's with the Mercedes S-class, BMW 7 series, Audi A8, and Lexus LS.$5000 is a great deal considering that 1996 Audi A8's and BMW 7 series with 80,000 miles cost at least $10,000.
