Default b20 vtec or ls vtec?

i have a 99 civic ex and i want to do one of those swaps i just dont know which one...a buddy of mine has a ls vtec and i love that motor..but ive herd that a b20v could be a better motor when built and for less...any opinions???

Basically they are the same thing. The B20 is a non-vtec motor as well as is the B18a from the LS. The B20 has a little more displacement and more torque. Another thing to consoder is whether you want to build for turbo or naturally aspirated. For all motor the B20 is the way to go, It will respond a little better for a non-turbo setup. However if you want turbo then the LS/VTEC swap is the way to go. Basically either motor is done the same way by mating a VTEC head from either a B16A or B18C1 to the block using a conversion kit.

there is no replacement for displacement. Go with the bigger bore b20. Better naturally aspirated motor or turbo motor.
