I had a friend change the oil (instead of paying the huge amount at the dealer). Now the light came on and it says I only have 15% oil left. Is there a way to reset it without going back to the dealer?

Check your owners manual. I have a Toyota that tells me when the oil needs changed and after changing it you have to reset the meter and the manual told me how to do it. I'm sure your will be different than mine.

Check in the manual, there is a section that shows you how to do it

Out of the owner's manual for 2007:1) turn the ignition to the ON (II) position 2) Press the SEL/RESET button repeatedly until the engine oil life is displayed. 3) Press the SEL/RESET button for about 10sec. The oil life and the maintenance item cods will blink. 4)Press the SEL/RESET button for more then 5 sec. The maintenance item codes will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100% This should do it. look at page 181-187 in the book.
