Default My car is lacking power when shifting from first to second, why is that?

I drive an acura rsx 5spd 2003 and when i am shifting from first to second at around 5-6000 rpms i can feel my car struggling to match that rpms once i shift to second (it has nothing to do with the way i am shifting, trust me) it feels like the car is literally struggling to get to those rpms when i am driving and this only happens in second gear. Is there any reason why this is happening and what can i do to fix that?

My first thought is you should take it to reliably shop. but if the service engine light hasn't come on you can check a few things like the air filter or maybe get someone to help you change the fuel filter those are some the things that could cause your problem also you mite want to start having it service regularly if your not all ready, because if you do chances are you wouldn't be having this problem there are alot of shops out there doing oil changes for around 20ty bucks heck if you did it your self it would cost $15 for parts and most shop will check some of those other things like the air filter for free as there changing your oil anything else should have set a code causing your service engine light to come on if that's the case you'll need a mechanic.

I have a 2002 RSX-S and don't have that problem either, but I HAVE heard of some people having trouble with 2nd gear. Gerald is right. Check first for recalls and then go to one of the Acura/RSX forums and see if THEY have a remedy..then take your facts to Acura and have THEM ride with you while you drive.
