Honda Accord. Here's the deal. A fully loaded top of the line Accord is less than the cheapest TL, by at least 2-3 grand. The new top of the line accord also has more horse power. But the biggest factor for me would be that in a year's time, the current TL will be ditched and a new one will come out based on the 2008 Accord. So your shiny new TL will look instantly dated and old. It will drop in value sharply as it will be the 'old shape.' So for this reason, I'd skip the TL.Before you buy your Honda, give the Nissan Altima a test drive. Fully loaded, it's a great car too. Very fast and with a better chassis than the TL. I owned a TL for two years (current body shape) and I can tell you that on a test drive of the Altima I was shocked that it outperformed my TL on a country road.

Depends on what you want...family sedan or sport sedan. The new Accord is no more sporty in performance/handling than the outgoing model, just bigger/heavier w. snazzy new sheet metal. OK, it does bring added luxury features, but mostly for the EX buyers. But here's the thing...The current TL is a sharp car...one, if not Honda's best looking sedan ever...it will age gracefully. - The TL is slighly more $$, but you get more luxury & more performance...plus superb value in an entry level sport sedan! - Even though the base model is shy a few HP, it's both lighter than the new Accord, & it's tuned for performance...it will still outrun the 268 HP Accord. (the new Accord road test reports show now 0-60 improvements).- The base TL will also likely outhandle & outbrake the Accord too...again, it was built for that purpose. The 4th Gen TL (2009 year) will NOT be a spruced up Accord, but an all-new machine...likely w. RWD & in excess of 300HP. If you demand more performance now from Honda, consider the Acura 2008 TL Type S with a MT. BTW, recent 'Road & Track' comparison between newer RWD Lexus IS350 & Infinity G35 Sedan (upscale version of Altima) vs. the TL Type S gave the TL the best handling performance on the track...test was done by world class race driver. Though it was slightly slower than the other two, it is a very quick car (~ 0-60 in mid 5 seconds). R&T also gave kudos to TL for its silky smoothest engine. Plus interior/build quality is far above Nissan's.Our family drives both an '00 Accord V6, and an '06 TL. Personally, I think Honda's best at compact to mid-sized sedans...they were forced to make the new Accord bigger because an ever chunkier America demands it, and Honda feels it needs to compete head-head with the Camry/Avalon full-sized sedans. They've sacrificed some of the fun behind the wheel though. For the Honda at its best, consider the 2007 Acura TSX, Honda's best handling, best balanced sedan ever. It's priced actually a little less than a top of the line Accord.

If you imagine what they did with the new Accord think of what the new TL is going to be and yes it's time to start talking because you will see it May or June of next year first will be the TSX which will be the 2.3 Trubo SHAWD like the RDX more than likely and if you take a look at the sports 4 concept this should be our new TSX. NICE!!!! The TL will also be SHAWD no word on the engine yet but it is going to be very nice and no one will look at a G35 or bmw 5 series after this comes out unless maybe the m. Nothing heard yet on the RL but it will have to be a hell of a car and I hear it may come with a 8 cylinder this time. Acura will put it's competition to sleep next year and the MDX was just the start of this process.

Go for the Acura TL or Toyota Camry. The Accord has been recalled too many times and doesn't give you the same value for the money as a Camry. If you can afford the Acura TL, go for it!! It beats the Accord and Camry hands down! You won't regret dishing out the extra $$ for the TL.
