acura 1.8 timing belt play?
ok Im trying to asses a problem with my integra if interested you can look at my other questions but let me ask this way. how much play should there be in the belt from the front cam pully to the bottom crank pully. I know the tensioner is on the other side so it wont do much but what if it was one tooth off. just running everything through my headthanks in advance this is driving me crazy

The tensioner is there for the adjustment of the timing belt, please use that because it will automatically adjust the slack in the belt once adjusted correctly. As far as the one tooth off thing goes you could probably go 7 to 10 degrees off in either direction and that could lead to the vehicle not starting or running at all.

Okay, fromthe exhaust cam gear to the pulley gear there should be no slack. Meaning when you put the belt on start from the exhaust cam gear. Put the belt on and stretch in down to the crank pulley. Then from the intake cam gear through the tensioner and to the crank pulley. If you miss a tooth the car will run but when you accelerate it will miss/backfire. So don't miss a tooth.
