I'm considering purchasing a 2004 Acura TL but I've read a few people who speak of them having transmission problems and I also saw the recall on them for transmissions.Is this still a problem? Do you think purchasing a 2004 now that it could still be a problem?Wouldn't the car have already gone for the recall?Thanks!

A 2004 is a different model completly, so you should be fine.our 99 tl lost it at 135,000

The TL trans problem were from 99-03 and some early 04's. I work at an Acura shop and I've replaced many TL and MDX trans problems. Check with your local dealership and find out if your TL falls in the recall campaign program. I've replaced 2 of the 04 TL's and haven't seen anymore of the 04 and up year TL.

Transmission problems effected the old generation TL's and Accords. You should be fine with the 2004 (I own one, and did alot of research before hand)There WAS a small engine recall for some of the first generation TL's but thats it...

Should not be a problem. Also if you buy a certified one, you'll have total 100k miles Powertrain warranty, which covers transmission.

This is a popular acura forum:http://tl.acurazine.com/From what I read on there, you can still be unlucky and face a TL with transmission problems. Of couse, this is with automatics. Honda's automatic transmissions are never good. I would suggest getting a manual.
