Tuning is for idiots, generally speaking.See the problem is, the car you buy is designed to be a certain way. The tires, the brakes, the suspension, the transmission, everything is geared to the power the car was designed to have. Once you start adding more horse power you throw the balance of the car off. You have to start upgrading other components of the car in order to keep it safe. By doing this you invalidate your warranty, meaning that if the car every breaks down, you're on your own. The dealership won't want anything to do with your car. So now you could be sinking even more money into it. Also if something freaky happens like the car catches on fire, you won't have any recourse with the company either. If anything bad happens, they are simply going to tell you that you should not have modified their car from original specs.Next, there is insurance. If you can't drive until 2013, it means one of two things. Either you are a child, and you won't be old enough for another five years. Or you were banned from driving until 2013. In either case your insurance is already going to be insanely expensive. If you don't tell the insurance company about your modifications, you will void your insurance. This means if anything bad happens, they will not pay out. Leaving you in a world of financial trouble. If you do tell the insurance company about your modifications, they may well simply void your insurance anyway. Because there is only one reason to mess with a car in this way, and it's to drive too fast. Insurance companies don't like people driving fast, it makes them nervous. So they will either void your insurance or charge you so much you won't be able to afford it.Finally, by messing with your car, you are killing the resale value of it. Unless you do something amazing like you see on Pimp My Ride, no one is going to be impressed with the modifications you make to your car. They are going to look at it and worry about reliability and the other issues I've mentioned. So has you pour money into your car, you are also hurting its value, which costs you even more money when you trade it in.Sorry to be such a kill joy, but when it comes to the adult pleasure of owning a car, there is also adult responsibility too. You can't just do what you like and hope everything will be okay. You have to consider consequences to your actions. When you consider the money you are going to waste modifying a car, the extra insurance costs, you'd be better off buying a car that is already plenty fast enough. There will be plenty to choose from, since many 2008 cars will be affordable by the time 2013 rolls around.
